MAP with DECA*

MAP with DECA*

Satisfying consumer expectations 100%. That's what you want as a food producer. You can offer that certainty with MAP packaging or gas packaging. To ensure this you need DECA's semi-automatic sealing machines. With the right packaging process we extend the shelf life of foodstuffs without any loss of quality whatsoever.

MAP, what’s in a name?

MAP stands for Modified Atmosphere Packaging or gas packaging. The air in the packaging is replaced by a mixture of nitrogen (N2) and carbon dioxide (CO2). You then inhibit the chemical, enzymatic and microbiological reactions and counteract the growth of common bacteria and fungi. With fresh/unprepared/raw meat products, oxygen is often added during the MAP process to preserve the colour. The exact gas composition depends on your product and takes account of its properties such as the Aw value or water activity in the product, pH, temperature, quality of the raw material, additives, as well as the barrier properties of the packaging and foil.

Why gas packaging?

MAP Packaging or sealed gas packaging is the ultimate packaging to enhance quality, shelf life and presentation. You reduce the risks of post-contamination and guarantee a high standard of hygiene. The other advantages:

  • You extend the shelf life of fresh produce by days or even weeks

  • You win consumers over to buy your product more quickly thanks to the attractive colour

  • You reduce the use of chemical additives or preservatives

  • You maintain quality across the board, including taste and texture

  • You enjoy logistical flexibility with enhanced stock management for your products

The semi-automatic sealing machines from DECA can do even more than gas packaging. There is also vacuum SKIN packaging for example, that you can also discover here.
